Preparation for Hurricanes & Tropical Storms
In the event of a Tropical Storm or Hurricane, we hope that you, your family and your business will remain safe. However, we strongly recommend taking precautions to insure the survival of your important data and network equipment.
Steps that need to be considered if the threat becomes imminent:
- A full backup should be run and completed prior to the arrival of the storm.
- Backup tapes need to be taken offsite and secured.
- All servers, PC's, and networking equipment should be shut down, powered off, and unplugged.
- If your servers reside on the first floor, you should elevate your servers off the floor.
- All networking equipment should be elevated as well.
- All PC's that are on the first floor should be placed on top of a desk or table.
- Computer hardware that resides next to windows should be moved to offices located in the center of the building.
